What's up?! This week I did a whole buncho stuff. Visited my cousin in Maryland before she moves out to Colorado (anybody in Colorado that wants to hire me to come play?!), taught some trombone students, and went to a cool political event in the city. I've stayed out of politics for a very long time because it has polarizing and alienating effects on people. That being said, I went to a Bernie Sanders fundraiser and it was a little bit of that old "political" thing, where people don't want to hear anything other than what they believe, but it was also people talking openly about real humanitarian issues... like actually talking about the viability of different potential solutions. This is why I like Bernie Sanders. He wants to talk about potential solutions to real problems... so if you're a political person I encourage you to look past any names or labels, and think about what you believe for yourself. Not what somebody is telling you to believe or what you've inherited from your culture/society/parents/etc. Just think about it on your own and then see who you align with most. So until now I've remained apolitical, but I guess it's hard to stay that way when you end up front row at a Bernie Sanders fundraiser in NYC. I'll probably stay more or less candid about these things because like I said, I know people who otherwise wouldn't say a bad word about anybody start spewing hate when politics come into play, but now you know. I believe that we should be helping as many people as we can with as many resources as it takes. Mark Ruffalo did the opening speech at the event. Check it out if you can find it. He kinda nailed it :).
