On June 1, the trains of The Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) will be put into service, with President Uhuru Kenyatta scheduled to take the inaugural ride between the two cities. At his request, the train will be driven by a female driver. Training drivers is crucial for the success and sustainability of the infrastructure project. Concillia is one of many trainee conductors of the Mombassa-Nairobi Railway Project who, earlier this year, visited China for a 50-day vocational training. Concillia said she was confident she would be chosen as the train driver for President Kenyatta. Regardless of who will be chosen for the task, Concillia and her friends have already written an important chapter in the history of railways in Kenya, and Africa at large.
