"Kiep Ngheo," one of the greatest tango love songs of Vietnam, performed by one of Vietnamese top singers of yesterday and still is very well-loved today, Khanh Ly.

"Kiep Ngheo" is one of my most favorite melodies from Lam Phuong. It's also my most favorite tango rhythm of Vietnamese music. I like the music arrangement, the lyrics, the melody, and of course, with Khanh Ly's spellbinding voice. It just crossed my mind that Khanh Ly has a perfect voice for the tango rhythm! Don't you agree?

Basically, the song "Kiep Ngheo" (or "Poor Life," to literally translate it into English) is about a young lad who carries a one-way love in his heart. Because he has such a "poor life" that he dares not to speak of love to the girl who captures his heart. Walking in the cold rain, thinking of her, holding back his feelings, keeping his silence, loving a one-way love, pitying his own poor life--his tears are probably falling like the rain.

That's my ultimate feeling whenever I listen to this song. And believe it or not, it was also the feeling of this great songwriter. According to my parents, who introduced Lam Phuong's music to me only a few years back, this song was actually based on the songwriter's own experience!
