Marti Pellow's appearance in Emmerdale, singing Close To You, his debut solo single from his debut solo album, Smile, from 20 December 2001. The storyline was that Tricia Dingle had won a radio competition to be serenaded by Marti in The Woolpack but gave the prize to Kathy Glover as a leaving gift as she was emigrating to Australia.
