Video Anup Sastry - Bloom - Play Through

Watch in HD!!! This is a play-through for the title track off of my newest EP called 'Bloom'. Its been a while since I've released any of my own music. Balancing a touring schedule while trying to maintain writing for other projects as well as my own has proven difficult the past couple of years. Regardless, I was able to finish this EP, which will be available on March 2nd.

'Bloom' will be available on my Bandcamp page for free, and it will also be available on iTunes and other similar medias.

I want to thank Heather McEndree, Elisabeth Turchi, and the Wilson College Choir for working with me on this song. I had a lead melody that I wanted to layer over top of the middle chorus section, and I wanted to use a unique sound to do so. Originally, I was planning on using a clean guitar sound and maybe a piano (plugin) of some sort, but I wanted to see if I could branch out a bit. Mrs. McEndree was my band director in middle school. She let me switch from playing the clarinet to playing the drums in the 7th grade. I contacted her to see if she had any access to a choir, and she put me in touch with Elisabeth Turchi, who is the choir director at Wilson College. Its a very short section that the choir is a part of, but I think it made a huge difference. I decided to use some of the footage I took while recording the choir.

Another fun fact, I actually sampled a bunch of street drummers for that percussive layer that opens up in the beginning. I used this through out the song, and I also used it in other songs on the EP.
