劇情簡介：

上世紀中葉，國共戰爭，國民黨政府不敵共產黨，退出大陸。絕大部分軍民隨著中央政府遷到台灣，另一批人則是從雲南省退出中國國境，輾轉逃至泰緬山區。奉命留守的他們，與台灣遙遙相望，蓄勢兩面合擊、反攻大陸。

幾十年來，這群流落緬甸、泰國北部的泰北華人，與中華民國台灣保持著緊密連結，也長期得到台灣官方與民間的愛心資源。但，以往反共氣氛相當濃厚的泰北地區，過去幾年卻發生變化；經濟崛起的中國大陸開始將觸手伸進泰北華人村，提供優渥資源「照顧泰北同胞」，引發軒然大波。泰北僑社因而分裂為「親台灣」與「親中國」兩派，裂痕至今仍難撫平。

究竟國族情感、政治信仰需要維持，還是經濟、教育現實比較重要？要知恩圖報、勿忘本，還是要與時俱變、迎接新的擁抱？與長期敵對的中國大陸交往，是突圍的創舉，還是淪陷？

本紀錄片以第一批前往中國大陸求學的泰北學子為主角，探尋他們選擇留學中國、而非台灣的動機，並調查中國資源在泰北所掀起的風風雨雨，帶出泰北華人面對中國大陸時的難解情結。

Last century, during the war between KMT (Kuomintang) and CCP (Chinese Communist Party), a large number of KMT soldiers retreated all the way from Yunnan, China to Myanmar and Northern Thailand. With their "anti-Communism" belief, the Chinese in Northern Thailand maintained close relationship with the Republic of China (ROC) on Taiwan, receiving plenty of benevolent resources from the Taiwanese. They planned to counterattack against the Mainland together one day.

However, during the past years, the abundant resources provided from economic-growing China (PRC) have changed the condition in the traditional anti-Communism area. Some villages accepted China's advantages, changing the national flag from ROC to PRC. It caused a huge controversy there.

By tracking the studying path of Northern-Thailand students studying in China, the documentary discusses their motives of choosing China over Taiwan. It also analyzes the tangle of Northern-Thailand Chinese with China by investigating the controversy caused by China resources.
