This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Alexis Papahelas presents the two faces of Greece, during the economic crisis

Alexis Papachelas, journalist and executive editor of the «Kathimerini» daily

Before sitting in the executive editor’s chair of Kathimerini, Alexis Papachelas dedicated more than two decades to investigative journalism. Both as correspondent in the USA and as a reporter in Greece, his pen and camera lens offered the Greek public important revelations and interesting interviews.

In the USA he studied Economics and History, while he did postgraduate studies at the world’s best school of international relations and journalism, at the Columbia University. He started working as correspondent for the Greek media in 1983. Until 1998, when he returned to Greece, he managed to secure some of the most important interviews watched by the Greek viewers: from Bill Gates and President Clinton, to Arafat and the military commander of Zapatistas. Back in Greece he created the show «Fakeloi» (Folders), a modern television approach to investigative journalism.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
