The School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Drumming has been training world class musicians for over a hundred years.
31 Soldiers from Scottish, Irish and Ghurka Regiments have spent the last six months being tutored in the art of Piping and drumming by experts at the school at Redford Barracks in Edinburgh.
Major Stevie Small, Director Army Bagpipe Music says anyone who has ever watched a military parade with a piper of drummer has seen past pupils.
"Every British military piper and drummer you see from the homecoming parade in your local town to the spectacular surroundings of the esplanade at Edinburgh castle has passed through this school."
Each year upwards of 60 students cross the school's threshold from class three novices to pipe major, each one of them striving for excellence.
Brigadier Paul Harkness, Commander 51 (Scottish) Brigade says it allows many musicians to combine their two passions.
"For many young pipers joining the forces allows them to pursue a military career without giving up their passion for music."
