오는 5월 27일 국내 유일무이한 '인디 걸그룹' 바버렛츠(The Barberettes)의 정규앨범 [바버렛츠 소곡집 #1]이 발매된다. 정규 앨범 발매 후 바버렛츠는 타이틀 곡 '가시내들'을 앞세워 다양한 활동을 선보일 예정이다.

2012년 가을 결성된 바버렛츠는 결성 이후 꾸준한 공연 활동으로 실력을 검증받은 '시간여행 걸그룹'이다. 김 시스터즈, 미국의 앤드류 시스터즈(The Andrews Sisters) 등 50~60년대 사운드와 옛 가요를 세 가지 색깔의 목소리로 새롭게 풀어내고 있기 때문. 가요와 인디, 재즈 씬에서 활발한 활동을 해 온 싱어송라이터 안신애를 주축으로 재즈 씬에서 떠오르고 있던 보컬리스트 김은혜, 중저음이 매력적인 박소희가 우연한 계기로 일주일에 한 번씩 모여 연습하던 것이 바버렛츠의 결성 계기다. 결성 후 이태원과 홍대 클럽 공연부터 동네 어르신 잔치까지 다양한 공연 활동을 지나 첫 앨범 발매에 이르기까지 수없이 다듬어져 온 화음에는 바버렛츠만의 경험과 시간이 고스란히 녹아 있다.
