Canon's newest and smallest DSLR, the Canon Rebel SL1/100D is now here and yes, it is noticeably smaller than other DSLRs, especially when used with the Canon 40mm f/2.8 Pancake lens. So LearningCameras put the Canon Rebel SL1 through it's paces testing low light performance in this review, Video/movie performance, dynamic range, and many other features. We also compared the low light performance to the Canon 7D and Nikon D7100 to see if Canon has improved the sensor technology.
The Canon SL1 sports an 18MP sensor similar to other Canon cameras in this price range such as the Canon T5i, 60D, and 7D. In addition, Canon has increased the max ISO for this camera to 12,800 with the ability to extend the ISO even further, though I would not recommend doing that. In this review, we take a look at the sensor performance and review the results for high ISO images, even comparing them with that of the Canon 7D and Nikon D7100. Like other Canon Rebel cameras, the Canon SL1 has a plastic build, although with a nice grip and solid feel. The Canon SL1 is also referred to as the Canon 100D, the Canon Rebel 100D, and the Canon Rebel SL1 which does lead to some confusion.
