Joseph Haydn (1738- 1809), who spoke Croatian, was born in a Croatian ethnic enclave in Burgenland (Gradisce) in Austria. In this example, the main theme of his London symphony no 104 in D major (movement IV) is based on the well known Croatian traditional song "Oj, Jelena, Jelena, jabuka zelena" (Oj, Jelena, Jelena, my green apple).
