El Paso rapper Evander Griiim this week had his first music video debut on BET Jams, an all-video channel.
The video for "The Step" premiered Thursday morning on BET Jams. And since then, Griiim said he's been getting a flood of support and congratulations.
"I wanted to break the mold of people saying El Paso is boring, or that if you’re from El Paso you won’t go anywhere," Griiim said, whose real name is Evander Chantz.
"The Step" was filmed at two locations: One in Horizon and the other in West El Paso near Franklin High School. It features 19-year-old Griiim and a large group of kids dancing and having fun. It also features some familiar El Paso icons: Low riders and a crisp orange Texas Western jersey.
