Beautifully realized live version of the classic Brazilian song by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes - with English lyrics written by Norman Gimbel for Astrud's husband João's album with Stan Getz in 1963. Astrud was recruited to sing the English lyrics at the recording session - and the single's popularity thrust her into the spotlight even though she wasn't a trained singer. This is her first appearance on US television.
