Yoo Seung Ho (Remember), Kim So Hyun (Goblin: The Great and Lonely God, Let’s Fight Ghost), L (Kim Myung Soo from INFINITE and Sly and Single Again) and Yoon So Hee (Bong Soon - A Cyborg in Love) star in a historical drama about a man who wages a lone war against an evil larger than anything the dynasty has faced. When a Crown Prince realizes that his people are suffering at the hands of an organization even he can’t stop, he takes a stand and destroys them from the shadows. The stage is the 18th century Korea. The Joseon Dynasty has been going strong for four centuries. The Crown Prince Lee Sun (Yoo Seung Ho) is a strong and just man. He should be the ruler of everything. But he isn’t. The Pyunsoo Hwe aren’t just an organization with money; they are the de facto rulers of the country. By privatizing the water supply in Joseon, they have accumulated massive amounts of wealth, power and political clout. They are led by the villainous Dae Mok (Heo Joon Ho from Beautiful Mind), a seemingly warm and kind man who harbors evil beyond most people’s wildest imaginations. In name, there is a monarchy. In reality, the Pyunsoo Hwe pull the strings. Even the Crown Prince cannot openly fight them. But Lee Sun is the last hope of the people suffering under the dark hand of the Pyunsoo Hwe. And he isn’t planning on backing down. Han Ga Eun (Kim So Hyun) is the woman the Crown Prince loves. The daughter of a military family, Han Ga Eun is extremely intelligent. She also has a strong sense of justice and is super unladylike. She also wants to take revenge on the Crown Prince for beheading her father. Instead, she falls in love with him, helps him grow as a ruler, and serves as his confidant in a world filled with betrayal.

The drama will air on MBC starting May 10th, replacing Radiant Office, which concludes the week before. It will air every Wednesday and Thursday at 10PM. The extended cast for Ruler: Master of the Mask includes Yoo Seung Ho as Crown Prince Sado Lee Sun, Kim So Hyun as Han Ga Eun, L as commoner Lee Sun, Yoon So Hee as Kim Hwa Goon, Heo Joon Ho as Dae Mok, Park Chul Min as Woo Bo (Lee Sun's teacher), Jin Ki Joo as Choi Kang Suh, Shin Hyun Soo as Chung Woon, Choi Ji Na as Queen Jeongseong (Lee Sun's mother) and Kim Young Woong.
