7. The Lovos Concept Car (2009)
This 2009 concept for the Lovos car, which actually stands for Lifestyle of Voluntary Simplicity, was designed by the same people at BMW who create the Rolls-Royce. It was actually the concept from a university graduate named Anne Forschner who never got to see her concept come off the page and turned into a reality. The car is supposed to come equipped with 260 identical panels or as they’re referred to “scales”. These “scales” are supposed to carry out a multitude of functions, most notably as air brakes and solar panels where one can only assume to help recharge the car. The “scales” were even said to move independently from one another.

6. The A360 Concept Car (2008)
This isn’t just your average car. In fact, you probably wouldn’t even be able to tell that this is supposed to be a car considering it looks more like a UFO mixed with a fighter jet. The car was said to come with exterior cameras, a panoramic glass roof, and instead of wheels, it would come with three spheres that would allow it to move in any given direction. The cabin would be built with the ability to swivel an entire 360 degrees to accommodate the spheres.
Even the steering wheel got a makeover by getting completely eliminated and replaced by a control ball. Sadly, this car never made it off the drawing board and onto an assembly line.

5. The P-Eco Concept Car (2010)
This sci-fi futuristic concept car was designed by Jung-Hoon Kim that was to be completely powered by piezoelectricity. This just means that the car would have been installed with these “chords” that would create an electrical current when turned on and as they vibrated they would charge the car’s battery. The car does lack a roof which would have proved as a nuisance in areas where climates can reach temperatures either too cold or too hot. Fortunately, this was just another “what if” car idea.

4. The Magnet Concept Car
Designed by Mat˙ö Proch•czka, the concept of this car was to find a solution for better methods of transportation based on fuel efficiency. This would use magnets in the car and on the road to lift the car off the road and make it weigh 50 percent lighter. Of course, there’s no such thing as roads with magnets in them, which makes this design purely hypothetical.

3. The Acrylic Car
The German car parts making company known as the ZF group wanted to let viewers know just what car parts it supplies to the auto industry. It was during the North American International Auto Show earlier this year that the company unveiled a full-sized acrylic car model to do just that. The car is completely see-through so that car buyers and the car industry could see just what they do. The company just bought TRW Automotive a year ago and now produces their line of steering wheels, electronics, seat belts, and other products adding to its massive list of inventory.

2. The erRinGo Concept Car (2009)
This ring-shaped electric concept car was designed by a man named Mohammad Ghezel and is built with three wheels, one larger one in the center and two smaller ones on each side. These wheels would help the car turn while it is in motion, while also providing it with some extra balance. How does it stay up? The car is balanced out by using a rotor/gyro system that allows it to stay upright on the main wheel. It was also designed to come with two steering wheels to allow each passenger the opportunity to take the wheel. Maybe one day the world will be filled with giant circular cars but until then we can only just imagine.

1. Terrafugia’s TF-X Concept
For the last several decades, people always believed that flying cars would eventually be a staple in future societies and that it was only a matter of time. This, however, has proven to be a little more elusive than what was originally imagined. But a company called Terrafugia has created the following concept that is sure to please all the hopefuls. The TF-X flying car is designed with two foldable wings that come equipped with two electric-powered propellers. Not only would you need a driver’s license to operate this vehicle but you’ll be required to have a pilot’s license and 20 hours of flying experience. The company states that this could range anywhere from 8-12 years to go into the actual production stage.
