Şarkışla is a county of Sivas province in Turkey. In March 16, 1971 two founders and leaders of the first Turkish armed revolutionary group established in the Middle East Technical University, Turkish People's Liberation Army were caught and arrested in Şarkışla where they were in preparation to start a guerilla warfare. Deniz Gezmiş, a highly charismatic figure and the most remarkable leader of the socialist revolutionary movement in Turkey in the late 1960's and early 1970's, and his comrade Yusuf Aslan were later hanged to death in May 6, 1972, along with another co-founder and ideologist of Turkish People's Liberation Army, Hüseyin Inan. For the record, although they have established an armed revolutionary faction, they have neither killed nor harmed anybody in their lives.
May no one tumble into Şarkışla
They have stopped Deniz Gezmiş
In Gemerek
He has stayed in Elmalı for the night
Asked for Hamamcı Ali
A filthy sergaent dog
Shot Yusuf in his unawareness
Only if
Only if I would be literate
Deniz is in court now
I would be his lawyer
Yusuf in in court now
I would be his lawyer
