Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa aren't happy newlyweds anymore. In the midst of divorce proceedings, Amber's been shutting down Instagram, and Wiz has had alleged sex tape troubles to handle. These are different times for the former couple, but today, Amber Rose brought it back to their wedding day in a new interview.
Speaking to OWN for the documentary Light Girls, a follow-up to the network's Black Girls, Rose explored how colorism and racism within her family and the black community has affected her. Rose, who's half-Cape Verdean and half-Italian, has experienced her family's negative attitudes towards her high-profile relationships with African American men.
“With my family, they feel like they’re more superior, or better than an African American, because we’re Creole and we have culture," she said.
Within her family, it got to the point where her side of the aisle didn't show for her 2013 wedding to Wiz Khalifa.
She expanded on the racial feelings of some of her relatives: "I'm angry that my family is like that and they wanna 'pass' so bad that they raised my mom and my uncles and my aunts to not fully know their culture."
